Snow Resort Romance no Kamisama, formerly known as Kitashinshu Kijimadaira Ski Resort, is a ski resort in Kijimadaira Village, Nagano Prefecture. The resort takes its current name from the popular Japanese song “Romance no Kamisama” by singer and songwriter Koumi Hirose. In 2023, the resort officially adopted the song’s name as part of a major renewal and rebranding.
Located on the northern slopes of Mount Kosha, which rises to 1,351 meters and is also known as Takai Fuji, the resort receives abundant snowfall carried by seasonal winds from the Sea of Japan. Its combination of high-quality powder snow and varied terrain makes it possible for beginners, families, intermediate skiers, and advanced riders to enjoy the mountain in different ways.
Snow Resort Romance no Kamisama spreads across the northern slopes of Mount Kosha, a beautiful mountain rising above northern Nagano. During winter, seasonal winds from the Sea of Japan bring plentiful snowfall to the region.
The resulting dry, powdery snow is one of the resort’s major attractions. Surrounded by forests and expansive mountain scenery, visitors can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in a natural setting characteristic of northern Shinshu.
The resort has 12 ski and snowboard courses, with approximately 40% for beginners, 50% for intermediate skiers, and 10% for advanced skiers. This broad range of terrain makes it suitable for groups in which family members or friends have different levels of experience.
For experienced skiers and snowboarders, the Pioneer Course offers a serious challenge. With a maximum gradient of 46 degrees, this steep, ungroomed course provides demanding terrain for advanced riders looking for a more technical descent.
Beginners and families can enjoy gentler terrain such as the 800-meter-long Family Course. The Yamabiko Course passes through a forested area, providing a relaxed way to experience the snowy mountain landscape.
Some sections of the resort are exceptionally wide, reaching up to approximately 250 meters. This creates an open feeling on the slopes and gives skiers plenty of space to enjoy their runs.
The resort’s snow park features a variety of freestyle elements, including jumps, rails, and waves. It is particularly popular with snowboarders and freestyle skiers who want to practice tricks and enjoy a different style of riding.
Families with young children can head to KIDSWEET, the dedicated kids’ area. Its Children’s Plaza includes a 50-meter moving walkway, making it easier for children to enjoy sledding and playing in the snow without having to climb the slope repeatedly.
Facilities such as a nursing room and diaper-changing area are also available, making the resort more convenient for families traveling with babies and small children.
The resort restaurants offer menus designed around themes of beauty and health, providing a variety of choices beyond standard ski-resort meals.
There are also powder rooms equipped with beauty hair dryers, allowing visitors to freshen up comfortably after spending time outdoors in the snow.
After skiing or snowboarding, visitors can relax at the resort’s heated swimming pool and large public bath, both of which are available for day use.
These facilities also make the resort enjoyable for people who do not ski. Families and groups can spend time together in the snow while choosing different activities according to their interests.
The resort’s lift network includes several lifts serving different areas of the mountain.
No. 1 Single Lift: 517 meters
Silk Lift (No. 2 Pair): 594 meters
Pioneer Lift (No. 3 Summit Pair): 860 meters
Romance Lift (No. 6 Pair): 645 meters
Sky Lift (No. 8 Sky Four): 1,203 meters
AI Lift (No. 11 Quad): 741 meters
One of the defining features of Snow Resort Romance no Kamisama is the variety of ways to enjoy the mountain. Beginners can take their first runs on gentle slopes, families can spend time in the dedicated children’s area, intermediate skiers can explore the extensive course network, and advanced riders can challenge themselves on steep, ungroomed terrain.
The snow park adds another dimension for freestyle enthusiasts, while the wide slopes and surrounding forests create a spacious mountain environment for enjoying winter sports at your own pace.
From Iiyama Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, the ski resort can be reached by car in approximately 15 minutes. A free shuttle bus takes approximately 20 minutes, making the resort convenient for travelers arriving by public transportation.
From the Toyoda-Iiyama Interchange on the Joshin’etsu Expressway, follow National Routes 117 and 403 for approximately 14 kilometers. The drive takes about 20 minutes.
A parking area with space for approximately 1,000 vehicles is available, and parking is free of charge 24 hours a day.
