The Nakatsugawa River valley, which flows into Lake Akimoto, is a 10-kilometer stretch of waterfalls, rapids, sheer cliffs, and virgin forests, giving it a truly unexplored atmosphere.
The valley is a popular spot for viewing the autumn colors of the leaves, which turn a variety of vivid reds, yellows, and greens during the fall foliage season. Looking down the valley from the bridge, the view is spectacular, and the mountain cherry blossoms in spring and fresh greenery in summer are also spectacular. Visitors can also descend into the valley via a walking trail located near the Nakatsugawa Rest House.
